My Next Journey

By Mark Yuhas, MD

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of taking care of patients of all ages and with a variety of hand and upper extremity conditions here in my own community.  The variety of challenges has created a personal satisfaction and accomplishment that inspires me to want to continue to pursue unique challenges and provide care to those in most need. One unique opportunity that I would love to pursue in the future would be to participate in a medical mission. I have heard many inspiring stories of hand surgeons and others in the healthcare field that have participated in these missions to take care of those patients in most need throughout the world.  The opportunity to provide care in mission work would allow me to share my talents and knowledge that I have gathered in my early career and hopefully help to makes the lives of those better. In addition, I think that this type of opportunity would allow for personal growth and knowledge that would be personally fulfilling. I know that each of us in the hand surgery community have unique talents and abilities to offer to others, and I am inspired and grateful that the American Society of Surgery for the Hand has given us the ability to share these talents with the rest of the world.  I am excited to think about how and where this next journey will take me.
